General Information
City Red Cross Society Zagreb is an association for the promotion of humanitarian goals and tasks in the field of protection and promotion of health, social care, health and humanitarian education. The Zagreb Red Cross Organization was founded in 1878 and is one of the oldest Red Cross organizations in the Republic of Croatia. The Society is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization that works with the assistance of volunteers as well as professionally engaged staff. The Society organizes and implements various forms of assistance to citizens in the spirit of humanism and solidarity and in accordance with the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity and universality. Through the humanistic upbringing of children, young people and all citizenship, society as a whole is developed through the enhancement of solidarity, humanity and respect for the human being, and the principles of mutual assistance, tolerance, cooperation between people and life in peace are promoted.
The Zagreb Red Cross City Society based its activities on the provisions of the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 and the Additional Protocols – Protocols I and II of 1977 and Protocol III of 2005.
The main goals of the Zagreb City Red Cross Society are prescribed by the Croatian Red Cross Act (Official Gazette 71/10) and are:
– alleviation of human suffering, especially those caused by armed conflicts, major natural, environmental, technological and other disasters resulting from mass casualties and epidemics
– Contributing to the promotion and protection of health, disease prevention and health and environmental promotion
– encouraging and promoting solidarity, promoting volunteerism and mutual assistance and social security of citizens
The Zagreb Red Cross City Society approaches to achieving its goals, respecting the rights and freedoms of every person, regardless of race, color, gender, language, religion, political or other beliefs, national or social background, property, birth, education, social status or any other the distinguishing criterion.
The Zagreb Red Cross City Society, as a full member of the Croatian Red Cross, enjoys the special protection and care of the Republic of Croatia.
The Zagreb Red Cross City Society operates in the City of Zagreb and has the status of a county society. The registered office of the company is in Zagreb, Ilica 223.
In addition to its headquarters in Ilica 223, the company also owns a children’s playground in Novi Vinodolski and has a children’s playground in Sljeme. In order to carry out its activities in accordance with special regulations, the company also has a space for the placement of homeless people in Kosnica near Zagreb, as well as several workshops in the City of Zagreb to work with people with disabilities (workshops are located at the following locations: Crnomerec, Tresnjevka, Susedgrad, Dubrava and Novi Zagreb Siget). The Company also uses three warehouses to collect assistance for socially disadvantaged citizens (in New Zagreb – Siget and Blato, on Žitnjak – Zagreb Holding Ltd., Branch of the Terminal) and two premises for the collection and distribution of clothing and footwear (Petrova 120).
Mission
The mission of the Zagreb Red Cross City Society is to contribute to the realization and implementation of the social policy of the City of Zagreb by mobilizing all resources, encouraging positive social change, providing necessary and timely services and various forms of assistance in the field of education, health and social care.
Vision
The vision of the Zagreb City Red Cross Society is to provide all necessary social assistance to all citizens in need with support based on humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity and universality.
Quality policy
The City Red Cross Society of Zagreb (hereinafter: GDCK Zagreb) is an association for the promotion of humanitarian goals and tasks in the field of protection and promotion of health, social care, health and humanitarian education. The main task of GDCK Zagreb is to organize and implement social programs and humanitarian projects with the aim of providing various forms of assistance to socially vulnerable groups of citizens, who are often on the sidelines of society. The activities of GDCK Zagreb are therefore of vital importance to the poor, sick, elderly and infirm and persons with special needs and are carried out in a spirit of humanism and solidarity in accordance with the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity and universality.
According to its legal structure and mission, GDCK Zagreb assumes the obligation of the highest level of corporate social responsibility. The corporate social responsibility of this association is based on increasing the standards of social development through its contribution to the promotion and protection of health and social conditions of socially sensitive citizens. The association has developed an awareness of the dependence of business success on quality and requires a commitment of employees to quality. Every employee in his field of work respects the principles of the profession, the legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia and the regulations of the association. The whole work is organized in a way that requires team spirit and close cooperation in order to achieve business goals for the benefit of citizens. By encouraging social dialogue among employees and investing in their training and improvement, it contributes to the quality of their work and thus increases the satisfaction of service users. In addition to the work of permanent and seasonal employees, voluntary work of citizens is encouraged in order to develop solidarity and promote volunteering as a selfless service to the community.
The overall quality objective is to continuously improve social programs, services and humanitarian projects for the beneficiaries, to develop new quality projects while developing human resources and volunteering, to build and maintain good and correct collaborative relationships with partners, and to create the preconditions for a safer way of working and maintaining employee health.
Satisfaction of employees and users of services as well as other stakeholders (suppliers, partners, owners, the state, regulators, competitors, media) is sought through the implementation of ISO 9001 quality management system and compliance with the relevant legal regulations. Quality policy is implemented in such a way that constant improvement of quality is encouraged in all locations of work and in all business processes.
Implementation of the established quality policy according to the requirements of the QMS is the responsibility of the governing bodies (the Assembly, the Board and the Supervisory Board), the directors and all employees of GDCK Zagreb.
